ColourPop Cosmetics {1st Impression, Review & Swatches}

DISCLAIMER: This is not a sponsored post.

Hello, my pretties! ♥

First of all, sorry for this super delayed review. It has basically been sitting in my drafts for several months and I kept postponing its release for one reason or another. Oopsies! *bad Liz, bad Liz...*

After much thought and hearing a bunch of different bloggers & YTers rave about this brand, I ended up buying a small batch of products to check them out and see what all the hype was about. Sometimes, I take outrageous online claims with a grain of salt because products can be easily over-hyped by people who receive samples or get paid by companies for sponsorships → Just keeping it real here... And this time, it was no different. I kept waiting for the bad reviews, but they never came. So curiosity got the best of me (don't judge me, I'm a girl who likes makeup) and, finally, I bit the bullet and placed my 1st order of ColourPop Cosmetics to try out. Today, I'm sharing with you my 1st impression, full review & swatches. Enjoy!

ColourPop Cosmetics {1st Impression, Review & Swatches}

All the products on the ColourPop Cosmetics website ranges from $5-$8, depending on the product. I placed my very 1st order at the beginning of April and received it exactly one week after ordering. Shipping was fast and accurate. Also, I was pretty impressed with how well everything was packaged. If you live in the U.S., you can get free shipping if you purchase at least $30 worth of products. I decided to take advantage of this and ordered 5 Super Shock Shadows, 1 Lippie Stix & 1 Lippie Pencil. Each one of the products I purchased was $5.

Now, let's go ahead and move onto the reviews...

SUPER SHOCK SHADOWS

ColourPop Cosmetics {1st Impression, Review & Swatches} | Super Shock Shadows

ColourPop Cosmetics Super Shock Shadows come in really fun packaging. The little box each single shadow is encased in when you receive them comes with all the information you need. Every shadow contains 0.07 oz of product.

When you remove the shadows from the box, they come in little white pots. The lid is not the snap-on type, like M•A•C. Rather, the top screws onto the pot to keep the product inside safer since the consistency of these shadows is rather unusual. Super Shock Shadows have a sort of cream-to-powder consistency that is neither, which gives them a very unique texture. When you touch them, they aren't neither creamy nor powdery but they have a slight bounce to them...Honestly, I can't quite describe them. You need to see it to believe it. Oh! & don't forget to screw those lids on tightly, so the product remains intact.

The Super Shock Shadows colors I chose are the following:

Girly - (Pearlized) Creamy vanilla with a flash of pink and gold duo chrome finish. Girly, the perfect way to class up your stripper heels.

I ♥ This - (Metallic) Cool-toned silvery taupe with multi-coloured glitter, this shadow will be your new BFF, day or night. Our fearless leader loves this shade SO MUCH that we naturally had to name it "I Heart This!"

Truth - (Satin) Party (almost) naked in this neutral light beige eyeshadow with a warm satin finish. Wear alone for an ultra-natural bare look or pair with the most intense shades in your makeup arsenal.

Hanky Panky - (Matte) A Soft cool-toned taupe with a matte finish. The discreet version of...well you know...

Bill - (Matte) Meet Bill, a muted plum beige with a matte finish. He likes long walks on the beach and romantic candlelit dinners.

The colors I chose are quite pigmented, but they are not particularly dark; therefore, they create very subtle and natural makeup looks. In order to create a more smokey or sultry look, I need to add darker colors from other brands since I don't have any from ColourPop at this time. Also, this brand has a great selection of colors and they are continuously adding to the collection. Another thing to add is that the colors always apply better with either your fingers or a flat synthetic bristle brush. They are easy to overblend because they are slightly creamy, so just be mindful of that. Other than that, I truly believe these eyeshadows take an already established product (eyeshadow) and give it a completely unexpected yet perfectly executed spin. There is just something very special about these eyeshadows that you have to try.

One last thing: Do not leave your eyeshadows anywhere they could potentially get warm. I accidentally did this with I ♥ This. It wasn't hot per se, but it was warm enough to cause the pan to become unglued from the pot and the eyeshadow itself to come off the pan completely. So far, this has only happened with the one eyeshadow. I don't think the product was defective; I just wasn't cautious enough.

LIPPIE STIX & LIPPIE PENCIL

ColourPop Cosmetics {1st Impression, Review & Swatches} | Lippie Stix & Lippie Pencil

Just like with the ColourPop Cosmetics Super Shock Shadows, the packaging for Lippie Stix and Lippie Pencils is super fun and youthful. As you know, I'm a nude lip kinda girl. So, I picked both the lippie and the pencil in the color Skimpy (yes, they both share the same name). The only thing that I was slightly puzzled by was the pencil. I thought it was an automatic twist-up tip; however, you do have to sharpen it. Just make sure to use a sharpener that is...well...sharp.

As for the color itself, the Lippie Pencil is a couple shades darker and warmer than the Lippie Stix. Since the Lippie Stix is a bit too light for my skintone, it can look chalky on its own. The warmth and depth of the Lippie Pencil makes for a very nice combo that is great for light-medium tones, such as myself, and creates the perfect nude lips that will work beautifully with any makeup look you choose.

This Lippie Stix & Lippie Pencil combo is my all-time favorite! Both products are super hydrating, pigmented, creamy and easy to use. I love that I can use the Lippie Pencil to entirely fill my lips and they feel super comfortable and hydrated throughout the entire time of wear, unlike other pencils on the market. Also, the Lippie Stix is absolutely amazing and I can't live without it. This is honestly my favorite duo and will use any excuse to apply them both (either together or all on their own). I totally recommend them!

Overall, I think ColourPop Cosmetics' quality is fantastic! And now I realize why I didn't find any bad reviews online - I don't see why there would be any. Every single product I chose is pigmented, great quality, easy to use, comfortable to wear and long-lasting. Plus, you won't be breaking the bank when purchasing any of their products. This brand should definitely be in your makeup collection. As for me, I have my eye on a few more of their products and plan on purchase some more at a later date.

I hope this review was helpful to you and that I included everything you wanted to know about ColourPop Cosmetics. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed!

Make sure to leave me a comment below if you have anything else to add to this review or if you have any questions. I will be more than happy to answer back! As always, thank you for stopping by to check out my blog. I really appreciate it! ♥

Until next time...
