Daytime Drama Makeup Look feat. Kat Von D's Shade + Light Contour Palette & Eye Contour Palette {MOTD}

Hello, my pretties! ♥

It has been a long while since the last time I did an #MOTD around here...I decided to share this one with you because I've been playing around a lot with my Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette & Eye Contour Palette (click the links for full review & swatches of these palettes).

I tend to go for very neutral and matte makeup on a pretty regular basis because that's my comfort zone, but I'm always looking for ways to make it look fun and slightly different than before. I decided to get a little crazy with both palettes to achieve a more glam/sophisticated makeup look that is still wearable for daytime. These KVD contour palettes are super versatile! So, I hope you enjoy the product breakdown and give this makeup look a try. Have fun! ☺

BASE
These products were used all over the face, neck & décolletage unless specifically noted.
• Rodan+Fields REDEFINE Pore Minimizing Toner
• Estée Lauder Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Night Serum
• Rodan+Fields REDEFINE Triple Defense Treatment Broad Spectrum SPF 30, mixed with
• Simple Skincare Nourishing 24HR Day/Night Cream, all over the face. Added a little extra around the eye area.
• NYX Cosmetics Makeup Setting Spray in Matte Finish. Sprayed entire face & neck before any makeup application, after foundation, and after the entire look was complete.
• Neutrogena Shine Control Primer with Rice Protein Complex, applied on areas that get extra oily (forehead, bridge of the nose, cheeks, and chin).
• L'Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in 104 Golden Beige, all over the face & dragged to the neck to blend with natural skin color.

BROWS
• Sum!ta Beauty Contrast Eye Pencil in Kala Black [Limited Edition]. Only applied to the arch of the brow. Any black pencil that doesn't smudge should do the work just fine.
• NYX Cosmetics Micro Brow Pencil in Brown Black. Applied to the center & tail of the brow. Do not bring it all the way to the beginning of the brow. Instead, use the small spoolie included with the pencil and "drag" the color towards the front with small strokes.
• Billion Dollar Brow Brow Gel in Clear. Apply all over the brows to set them.
• Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Deep Brown. Applied a small amount of brow mascara to make the hairs stand out a bit & make the brows look slightly more "natural". Don't give me beef. I know my brows look drawn on. That's why I put the word "natural" in quotations ;)

EYES
• Milani Cosmetics Eyeshadow Primer. All over the eyes - from lid to brow.
• Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette.
Laetus & Latinus mixed together - applied all over, from lid to brow to create a smooth base for the other eyeshadows to blend easily.
Lazarus & Samael mixed together - applied on the crease with a large fluffy brush as a transition color.
Solas & Sytry mixed together - applied to the outer 3rd of the crease with a smaller blending brush to create further definition to the outer part of the eyes.
Saleos & Shax mixed together - applied to the outer corner of the eye by blending these shades into the outer 3rd of the crease. Use a small blending brush for this step. With this, I created further definition of that area and elongated the shape to create a cat-eye effect.
Lucius & Liberatus mixed together - applied lightly on the inner 2/3rds of the lid with a small flat shader brush, carefully blending it with the darker colors on the outer corner. This step opens up the eye and prevents the makeup from looking too heavy.
Lastly, applied Succubus onto the outer 3rd of the lower lashline to create some definition in that area and blended with Ludwin to prevent it from looking too sharp and heavy.
• COVERGIRL Intensify Me! Liquid Liner in Intense Black. Applied onto the top lashline only. Made sure the liner on the inner corner was very thin and gradually made it thicker towards the outer corner. I also gave it a medium-sized wing to extend the eyes even further out.
• L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black. Applied a couple of coats of this mascara to my top lashes after curling them and a single coat to my lower lashes to give them a bit of definition. This step also prevents my lash curl from dropping when I apply the next mascara.
• COVERGIRL The Super Sizer by Lashblast Mascara in Very Black. I primarily apply a couple of coats of this mascara to my lower lashes to make them appear longer, darker, and more voluminous. I also apply a very thin coat to my top lashes to create the same effect. I want to point out I'm very light handed when doing it on the top lashes to make sure my curl does not drop. Once this mascara is applied, I go over top & bottom lashes with the L'Oreal mascara to seal the entire process and to maintain the waterproof quality.
• Kiss Ever-EZ Premium Lashes in 11. I mostly apply these lashes to add more volume to my own lashes. They are not super long, but they create more definition to the eye and add a bit more flirtiness to the entire look by keeping the cat-eye effect consistent.

FACE
• Purely Cosmetics 100% Pure Silk Setting Powder. Apply only to the areas of the face where I get the most oily (forehead, bridge of the nose, cheeks, chin, and cupid's bow). I also apply a small amount under the eye area to 'cook' my concealer and prevent it from creasing horribly throughout the day. I make sure to remove any excess at the end of the makeup process.
• Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette. Apply Sombre & Shadowplay mixed together to bronze up the face and create some definition (hollows of the cheekbones, temples, jawline, hairline, and sides of the nose). Then, applied Subconscious to create a stronger contour (where the cheeks & ears meet, on the square part of my hairline, and the sides of the tip of my nose).
• Kryolan for GLOSSYBOX Blusher in Glossy Rosewood [Limited Edition]. Applied on the apples of the cheeks and dragged the color lightly towards the ears. Another great option of color similar to this one is Milani Cosmetics Rose Powder Blush in Romantic Rose or any blush that is neutral dusty rose in color.
• City Color Cosmetics Sunlight Trio in Collection 2. Applied the highlight color on the high points of the face to make them stand out - bridge of the nose, cupid's bow, chin, top of the cheekbones, inner corner of the eyes.

LIPS
ColourPop Cosmetics Lippie Pencil in Skimpy
ColourPop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Skimpy, applied only to the center of the lips & blended well with a 2nd layer of lip pencil.

I tried to be as specific as possible in the description of every step; however, I know sometimes it's easier watching a video and actually seeing the process happen along with the explanation. If you would like a video to show you exactly how I apply every single one of these steps, make sure to leave me a comment below and I'll make a tutorial for you ☺
