#LALLBLOG14 Kick-Off VIP Party @ Bésame Cosmetics {Photo Heavy} [Part 1]

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share with you a really amazing event I had the opportunity to attend this week: The #LALLBLOG14 Kick-Off VIP Party at the Bésame Cosmetics Flagship Boutique in Burbank, CA.

This event was to launch the 4th Annual Lifestyle Bloggers Conference that's happening this weekend here in Los Angeles. I actually didn't know anything about Bésame Cosmetics, so I did a bit of research before going to the party and oh-my-gosh I was so glad I did!! This cosmetics brand is all about vintage-inspired luxury cosmetics that remind us all of the great quality and beautiful designs old cosmetics were known for back in the day.

Bésame Cosmetics products are made in small batches and they offer makeup that is truly  classic. You can see that Gabriela Hernández, owner, has a passion for her brand and is very involved in the design and execution of every single item. Make sure to check out their website to see all the products they offer!

And now, let's indulge in some really awesome vintage coolness and wonderful goodies! Be prepared, I have a LOT of pictures in this blog post ☺

Review :: IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette

Hi everyone!

Although I am a makeup hoarder collector, I don't have many palettes. I know you're all making a "yeah, right!" face right now but... I'm serious! I have very few full palettes in my collection. I'm not easily impressed with makeup palettes or will buy 'just because'... But, when I saw the IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Matte Palette, I had to get my hands on it!

For Christmas, I got an Ulta Gift card. I seriously traveled to four different Ulta stores looking for it and none of them had it. Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and pay for shipping since has the Naturally Pretty Palette available online. Ever since I received it, let me tell you, I have not been able to stop myself from using it!

Lately, all sorts of companies (such as LORAC and Smashbox, just to name a couple) have come out with ½ matte, ½ shimmer palettes. I think that's a great idea; however, I was on the lookout for a matte only palette. The makeup gods heard my matte-palette-lovin' prayers and the IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Matte Palette was created.

You want to see the full review to this palette? Just keep reading! ☺

FOTD :: DMV Makeup

Hi everyone!

During our trip to Hawai'i (you can read all about that HERE), I had a small hiccup & lost my driver license somewhere *insert sad face* So, I ended up having to make an appointment at the DMV* to get a new one. And I am glad that I did have an appointment! The place was packed!

I thought hoped they would take a new picture, since in the last couple pictures I look like I just got out of jail or like I belong on the criminal page of the newspaper rather than on a state-issued ID. Alas, they were so busy that they were only taking pictures on people who really needed a new one. Despite my plea & explanation as to why I desperately needed to have my picture taken, the DMV lady denied my request. At least she was really nice about it...

In any case, I just wanted to share the products I used to achieve the look I had on that day: It was simple, pretty, easy, yet perfectly defined for on-camera images. And since I did this makeup with that in mind, I had to take a picture! ☺

Here's what I used:

My Mole Removal Experience

Hi everyone!

Today, I wanted to take the time to actually write something that is a bit more on the personal side: the removal of my mole.

Generally speaking, I would not really care about something so simple as that; however, this particular mole was (in a way) my signature beauty mark. People used to compliment me on it & I used to love it! That was until it started changing...

But let me backtrack a bit, so I can explain to you how things occurred and the reasons behind why I decided to have it removed: I had a very normal-looking mole under my right eye for as long as I can remember. Over time, it grew in size and started turning into more of a small wart. At that point it still didn't bother me. It was not until I was pregnant with my boys that things started taking a turn - the wart grew even more! It was to the point where if I was writing or looking down, it would get on the way of my vision. Also, what was the original mole at the top of the wart, started to change & grow small hairs.

At first,  I thought the whole thing was only in my head until both my mom and my boyfriend brought it up. They both said the mole was way larger than they remembered it... OK?! *panic mode* I got worried and decided it was time to go to the doctor. He dismissed it. I wasn't happy with his answer. It just didn't feel right to have that growth under my eye! Not after it had changed so much so rapidly. So, I went another 3 times until he finally decided to send me to a dermatologist.

After a couple of consultations, the dermatologist decided to remove the mole to make sure it was not cancerous. Yay!!! Finally!! Uhhh... What do you mean you have to cut it?! Great! Now this... *worried face* I agreed to have the procedure done. Finally, the day of the surgery day came. I don't normally get nervous, but the thought of having a sharp object near my eye made my stomach churn. I was honestly expecting blood on the walls & horror movie-type screams of pain. Nope. None of that. The procedure was quick & painless. Thank goodness!

The bits that were removed were sent to the lab. The pathology results were negative for any cancers or weird issues. YAY!!!!! So, here I want to show you some images of the entire healing process. If you are not into grossness, I suggest you close your eyes & scroll very fast all the way down for the end result *wink* But if you're not bothered by gross stuff, check out the images below! ☺

Review :: Crown Brush Elite Infinity Brush Set with Deluxe Travel Case {Press Sample}

*** Disclaimer: I have received a free sample of this product courtesy of Crown Brush for use to review in conjunction with this blog post.

Hi everyone!

A while back I was fortunate enough to be invited to the #CrownSocial hosted by Crown Brush. This event happened on Pro Night at IMATS Los Angeles 2014 (if you want to read about it, click HERE). That evening, all of us in attendance received a gift bag that included the Elite Infinity Brush Set as well as other items that are normally part of the Crown Brush line of products.

I was very excited to try this product after we got all the information during the presentation done with Autumn Scruggs. I did, however, wait to actually review the product because I wanted to make sure to seriously put it to the test for a little while before I gave you all my final thoughts. As you guys know, I am a makeup artist, so I needed not just to try the product on myself but on my clients as well...

I had been using the Elite Infinity Brush Set since we received it, but it wasn't until last month on our trip to Hawai'i that I was able to work with them under different conditions. (If you want to read all about our trip to the lovely island of Maui, just click HERE). With my skin acting differently because of the high moisture and humidity, I was able to really put this set of brushes to the test.

You want to know what were my findings and what I think now? Keep on reading... ☺

Price point?
The Elite Infinity Set sells for $49.95. That makes the price for every single brush approximately $6.25, which, considering the quality is not bad at all!

Where can you find it?
You can find this set for sale on the Crown Brush website or at any trade show where they will showcase their products. To buy directly from their website, click HERE!

How is the packaging?
The packaging is pretty fancy - it comes with a reptile-like texturized case that is nice & sturdy. I love how it's also spacious enough to be able to include additional brushes into the case, if you are traveling with it. The one complain I have about it is that it's a bit on the bulky side; however, even with that, it's very travel-friendly + it's not heavy.

What does this brush set include?

This set includes 8 brushes in total: 3 face brushes (Blush Brush, Foundation Brush & Concealer Brush) and 5 eye brushes (Blending Brush, Flat Shader Brush, Smudge Brush, Angled Liner Brush & Eyebrow Brush.)

What colors does it come in?
This set of brushes comes in 2 choices: Gold or Silver. The one I received is silver, although I was half-hoping I would get the gold one *hee hee* I think the gold set looks a lot more luxurious and rich; however, the bristles do not perform any different whether you choose one color or the other.

What type of bristles are the brushes made with?
All the brushes in this set are made with vegan synthetic bristles created to resemble the feel of softness of natural hair. The bristles perform just as well if not better than natural hair; however, they do not cause the same issues that natural hair can create on sensitive skin.

These brushes are also designed to apply powder, cream, and liquid products. Additionally, the bristles are designed to not absorb any of the product when you pick it up or apply it on your face.

How is the texture?
The brushes are super soft! They are dense enough where you will pickup enough product and, as you apply the makeup onto your face, it will deposit and buff it in flawlessly giving you an airbrushed appearance. They are phenomenal!

Are there any cons?
The only 2 complaints I have about this set is that 1) the case is a bit bulky and 2) the flat foundation brush is a little too old school. I think a buffing face brush would have been a better option, especially for those who tend to wear liquid foundation.

What are your overall thoughts?
I have to say, I am rather impressed with the quality of these brushes! Since they are so soft, they feel great on the skin and, because they are not made with natural hair, they will not cause any issues to people with sensitive skin. Also, the price is pretty reasonable considering that this is one of Crown Brush's top brush sets. You get a good quality product for a great price.

I know I have gotten a lot of questions from people asking about a good starter set. Let me just say that the Crown Brush Elite Infinity Brush Set is a fantastic brush set for anyone who is starting to build their brush collection ☺ True, it's about $50; however, you have to remember this is an investment you will have for a long time, if you take care of your brushes correctly. So, invest on a good set of brushes that you could potentially have for a lifetime!

I hope you found this review helpful! And hope that every single one of you is doing wonderfully! One another note, we managed to go looking for apartments once again today without any luck whatsoever. I'm getting very frustrated, but I can't lose hope that we will find a better place for our little family. We love where we currently live and our landlord has been rather wonderful, but our neighbors downstairs aren't fans of the pitter-patter of tiny little feet above their heads all day long... So, it's time to find something that suits our new needs... Wish us luck! We desperately need the good luck dust & good wishes... I'll keep you all posted as (or if) things move along.

I send you all tons of love & light. See you soon!!
