Bridal Beauty & Style with ♥

Hello, my pretties! ♥

Bridal style involves uniqueness & individualism. It can be classic & romantic or quirky & off-the-wall. There's no right or wrong way of doing it. All you have to do is trust your gut-feeling, go with what suits your personality and how you want to remember one of the most important days of your life. is a great website where you can spend endless hours getting wedding inspiration not only for gorgeous gowns, but for anything wedding-related. At the end of your wedding day, the most special thing is always that you have officially married the love of your life! ♥ Of course, a pretty dress that makes you look fabulous always helps make the day extra special.

I still dream of my wedding day. Andrés & I are very non-traditional and did things backwards (...that's a whooole other blog post LOL). But that doesn't stop this girl from dreaming of that special day when my 2 boys will walk me down the aisle to marry their father. We talk about it a lot and I know it will happen soon. I want to make sure I look extra fashionable that day!

In this blog post, I want to showcase 3 different makeup looks inspired by 3 beautiful dresses I found in the website. I had so much fun spending endless hours looking at gorgeous wedding gowns and deciding what looks I would wear with each one of them. The dresses I have chosen lean more on the non-traditional and range just below the $500 mark. A wedding gown can be inexpensive, fun, unconventional and modern without losing elegance & sophistication.

If you're interested in finding out what kind of makeup I chose for each wedding dress from, just keep reading... ☺

"With intricate lace and a polished, half-sleeve silhouette, this flared dress was handcrafted in NYC by Leanne Marshall. Perfect for a memorable night (or day) of dancing, the knee-skimming skirt puts your shoes in the spotlight."

I love this dress for a daytime wedding or for a bride who doesn't want to be fussing around with a long gown. I love how playful yet vintage it looks. It makes me think how this dress could be a beautiful heirloom to pass from one generation to the next.

On Claudia, I wanted a very fresh makeup that would make her look young and flirty. I wanted there to be a strong contrast between her youthful pretty face and the very traditional lace. To make her stand out, I kept the entire makeup very monochromatic by adding soft peachy-pinks all throughout her face. What this does is creates a flush of all-over color that makes her blonde hair and big, expressive blue eyes really stand out.

I achieved her eye look by using a mixture of Too Faced Chocolate Bar Salted Caramel & LORAC Pro Mauve on the crease and Too Faced Chocolate Bar Champagne & Marzipan + LORAC Pro Nude, Champagne & Pewter on the lids. For the cheeks, I used a mixture of Sacha Cosmetics blushes in Barely Plum, Color Me Coral & Rose Glow. On the lips, I used a mixture of J.Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint in Mimsy + Sacha Cosmetics Summer Peach & Bubble Gum lipgloss with a bit of Rosebud Salve for extra shine.

by White by Vera Wang

"This elegant strapless draped lace column gown defines ethereal beauty. Beautiful Chantilly lace is draped at opposing angles for an amazingly flattering design, and underneath it all is a sensual double layer of charmeuse lining. A simply chic look easily changed to modern, romantic, or glamorous by adding a White by Vera Wang horsehair, floral, or crystal sash."

Now, I know a black wedding gown is very non-traditional and not for everyone, but the beautiful lace and flower waist detail make it look romantic and timeless. If the black color doesn't suit your style, this is definitely a versatile dress that would also look stunning in white (similar choices HERE and HERE).

On Christian, I kept things very smokey and strong on the eye area but avoided using black to not make it harsh. Instead, I stuck with a wash of purple eyeshadow and very strong definition on the outer corner to lift her eyes and avoid droopiness. I kept her skin neutral and her lips really natural. I didn't add any blush because I wanted to keep the statement primarily on her bone structure and the dress. She has beautiful high cheekbones and I really wanted to emphasize that. Instead of blush, I gave her skin a beautiful healthy and radiant glow that even J.Lo would approve of!

I achieved her look by using a mixture of LORAC Pro Deep Purple & Too Faced Candied Violet eyeshadows on the eyelids, Temptu Pro Champagne Shimmer on the cheeks and forehead (concentrating primarily on the cheekbones & above the brow arches), well-defined contouring of the face with airbrush foundation about 4 times darker than her skintone, and neutral but glowy lips by using a clear gloss with LORAC Pro Gold eyeshadow.

by The Dessy Group

"Sleeveless modern lace dress with wide matching satin sash. Flared skirt has sweep train."

This gown is definitely more structured and architectural than the previous two. The laser-cut lace gives it a very modern and up-to-date look yet the stylish cut keeps the dress very classic.

For Desiree, I wanted a much more sophisticated and defined look to go with her gown. The main emphasis was on her eyes. She has gorgeously huge almond-shaped eyes that needed to be showcased. I opted for a very defined cut-crease with an accentuated cat-eyeliner and tons of lashes. I kept things super simple on the lower part of the eyes by only adding a cream color pencil on her waterline & a couple coats of mascara on her lower lashes. Since there was so much going on with the eyes, I kept the contouring to a minimum. I only added a bit of highlight to the face to give it a bit of dimension. Her lips were darkened with a shiny mulberry color that didn't clash with the eyes and only enough blush to make her cheeks visible.

To achieve this look, I used LORAC Pro Black to cut her crease and used Sable & Espresso to blend it up. Added just a touch of Taupe to create a difussed gradient. For the lids, I used a combination of LORAC Pro Gold & Urban Decay Naked2 Half Baked to give them a very strong gold-tone that would highly contrast with her crease. On her cheeks, I used a combination of Orange Flame & Burnt Orange blushes from Sacha Cosmetics. Her lips were filled in with Italia Mahogany lip pencil, then Maybelline Divine Wine lipstick was added for some creaminess and finally, topped with Sacha Cosmetics Summer Cognac lipgloss.

I hope this blog post gave you some great ideas for your wedding day and that you enjoyed reading it as much as we thoroughly enjoyed working on it.

Until next time...

Fun & Romantic Weekend in Las Vegas! {Photo Heavy}

*** Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored blog post.

Hi everyone!

The Summer of 2014 has been an insane  one for us as a family. So, Andres & I decided to spend a fun & romantic weekend in Las Vegas!

We were very excited because last time we were in The Entertainment Capital of the World  was about 4 years ago with friends for New Years 2011. We were also quite apprehensive because this was the 1st time traveling without our boys. We always take them everywhere we go, but we needed some time alone to hang out by ourselves without the pressures of parenting...

We have some major  changes coming to us in the next few weeks, so this trip to The City of Lights  was our way to close and celebrate this chapter of our lives and welcome the new bright future ahead of us! ☺

Join us in this mini adventure in Sin City...Enjoy!

Kylie Jenner-Inspired Makeup (Drugstore Products ONLY!)

 Lately, I have been OBSESSING over Kylie Jenner's beautiful makeup look! It's super young, fresh, clean & perfect for summer. LOVE IT! ♥

I am not one to jump on the bandwagon just because...BUT you guys know I am a sucker  for natural & pretty looks that make facial features stand out and this is exactly  what Kylie's makeup does - she looks polished & put-together but it also makes her look young & playful. And who doesn't want that?!

Kylie Jenner's Selfie @ Coachella 2014

Now, I do not  claim or think or pretend I look anything  like Kylie; however, I do sincerely admire her style and uniqueness. As much as I love the Kardashian/Jenner clan, I feel as though they can be a little cookie-cutter at times; therefore, seeing Kylie grow up into her own unique style & sense of self, makes me very happy! ☺ Khloé & Kylie are definitely my two favorites out of the whole bunch.

Inspiration :: Dreams Come True!

Before I start, I need to warn you: This particular post might end up being all over the place. That is usually what happens when I write stuff like this. Not only that, but the way things are coming back into memory need to be recorded by the date they happened so that it all makes sense in the end for you... Thank you ☺

A few months back, I talked a bit about my internal struggles with depression and some things that I simply could not get over (if you want to watch that video before continuing this read, click HERE). I didn't get into too much detail because it's a very personal matter. Some time in the future I'll talk about it more openly. I am just not ready yet. I am still working on myself every day...

This blog post is not just  about those struggles. It's actually about how I have (slowly) overcome my demons and how a single person (completely unbeknownst to him) has single-handedly helped me get out of the mud to (again, slowly) finally come to terms with my past and look forward to a future with dreams. It sounds very  weird, I know, but I promise you'll have an "a-ha!" moment in the end ☺ Here comes the timeline...

2001 -  On my birthday, I was roaming around the aisles of Barnes & Noble with my then roomate, Brian. I encountered Kevyn Aucoin's Making Faces and my little world turned upside down. I had never  seen anyone create such transformations! That's the day I fell deeply in love with makeup.

#LALLBLOG14 Lifestyle Bloggers National Conference {Long Post} [Part 2]

Hi everyone!

A little over a week ago, I was fortunate enough to attend #LALLBLOG14. Originally, I intended to attend both days; however, as some of you know, I have been incredibly sick with walking pneumonia that has made me practically useless for the past 3 weeks (don't worry, it's not contagious unless I lick you LOL). So, I was unable to attend Day 1 due to some serious complications because of the infection. Luckily, I was able to shake it off for the day thanks to some pretty strong meds and (yay!) I made it to Day 2 of #LALLBLOG14.

The event was held at THE REEF, formerly known as LA Mart, in Downtown Los Angeles. If you are ever on the lookout for this particular building, just look for the massive  chair they have up for display in the front. This classic-looking kitchen-style wooden straight-back chair outside of THE REEF was installed in October 2003 and it is America's largest chair! THE REEF got it from a consortium of Italian furniture makers by pure luck (it was originally supposed to be installed in Chicago). You get to drive under the chair as you enter the parking lot. It's really cool! ☺

Review :: IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette

Hi everyone!

Although I am a makeup hoarder collector, I don't have many palettes. I know you're all making a "yeah, right!" face right now but... I'm serious! I have very few full palettes in my collection. I'm not easily impressed with makeup palettes or will buy 'just because'... But, when I saw the IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Matte Palette, I had to get my hands on it!

For Christmas, I got an Ulta Gift card. I seriously traveled to four different Ulta stores looking for it and none of them had it. Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and pay for shipping since has the Naturally Pretty Palette available online. Ever since I received it, let me tell you, I have not been able to stop myself from using it!

Lately, all sorts of companies (such as LORAC and Smashbox, just to name a couple) have come out with ½ matte, ½ shimmer palettes. I think that's a great idea; however, I was on the lookout for a matte only palette. The makeup gods heard my matte-palette-lovin' prayers and the IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Matte Palette was created.

You want to see the full review to this palette? Just keep reading! ☺

Review :: LORAC Pro To Go Palette {Press Sample}

Disclosure: I have received a free sample of this product from LORAC Cosmetics
for review/use in conjunction with this blog post. All opinions are my own.

A few months ago, I was invited to BeautyCon 2013 Industry Night in Los Angeles (if you want to learn a bit more about it, click HERE!). There were tons of companies there that provided us with some great goodies to check out and review; one of them was LORAC Cosmetics, which is one of the biggest and most respected companies in the industry. I was given the LORAC PRO To Go Palette during the BeautyCon Industry Night event.

I intended to review this product sooner; however, I don't know what happened to the original pictures I took. I ended up having to bite the bullet and take new pictures of my already used palette, so please forgive the state in which my poor little palette is in. This has been a well-used and well-loved palette, hence the powdery look it has in every single image. I hope you don't mind...

But, enough about me crying over old pictures. Let's get into the review! ☺

LORAC PRO To Go Palette

Company claims, "Go PRO with LORAC! Created by celebrity makeup artist Carol Shaw, this PRO artistry palette is packed with 3 Shimmer & 3 Matte Eye Shadows, 2 Blushes, a Bronzer, and 2 Brushes - Everything you need to look glamorous on the go. LORAC's velvety-smooth shadows and blushes are ultra-pigmented and packed with long-lasting PRO power so you can easily shade, line and define your eyes and color & contour your cheeks. Just like a PRO!
