Haul :: Christmas Time!

Sorry!!! I have been a bad bad blogger & haven't posted much but, in all fairness, we have been spending time with family since the weekend before Christmas and, currently, we have my boyfriend's little sister staying with us (you may remember here from THIS). So, the computer room is currently occupied by her. She was nice enough to let me sneak in here for this post right now...I know this post is way late, but I really wanted to share with you guys everything we did for Christmas ☺

How was your guys' Christmas?? I hope you had the best time with friends & family. I know we did!!

Review :: Wet N Wild® Color Icon™ 5-Pan Eyeshadow Palette in "The Naked Truth"

As much as I love color, I am always on the hunt for a good neutral palette. No matter how many I have in my collection, I just can't get enough. But hey! It's not a problem until you admit it, right? I had heard through the blogosphere that Wet N Wild was coming out with a brand new series of permanent Color Icon palettes. I couldn't wait to find them. I had to check them out! The thing is that I am simply and absolutely in love, infatuated, always lusting over WnW eyeshadow palettes and this was no exception. Finally, my search was over on our last trip to Palm Springs. I went to CVS and found these puppies ☺ So, this is my review of the Wet N Wild® Color Icon™ 5-Pan Eyeshadow Palette in The Naked Truth.

Wet N Wild® Color Icon™ Display*

There are 5 new palettes in total: Art In The Streets (rainbow/colorful), Tunnel Vision (monochromatic greys), Floral Values (purples & pinks), I'm His Breezey (blues), and The Naked Truth (nudes & neutrals). If you want to see the entire collection, you can click HERE.

This is what Wet N Wild claims about their new collection of Color Icon Palettes, "Five amazing shades in one convenient package at an unbelievable price! Each eyeshadow palette features five distinct shades that can be mixed and matched to create a unique look for every style. From matte to ultra-shimmer, these long-lasting, highly pigmented formulas are satiny-smooth for crease resistant wear. Enriched with Macadamia Oil, each shadow provides continuous moisture that improves the appearance of the delicate eye area."

Review :: Crown Brush 28 Hot Color Fuego Palette

***Disclosure: I have received a free sample of this product from Crown Brush for use in connection with this blog.

I, generally speaking, will gravitate towards neutral and natural colors when I do my makeup. That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy a good colorful makeup palette when I see one! Not too long ago, I was sent a package by Crown Brush that included this gorgeous palette. In it, as you can see, there is a great assortment of warm, cool, and neutral colors that can help you achieve pretty much any look you can possibly think of! Since this is holiday season and we're always on the hunt for a great palette that can act as a lovely gift for a loved one (or for us!), I decided to share with you the wonderful 28 Hot Color Fuego Palette.

Open Palette

Price point?
This palette retails for $24.95, which would make every single eyeshadow sell for about 89¢. Is that not a bargain or WHAT?!

Where can you find it?

You can buy this gorgeous palette at CrownBrush.us, just click on the link *wink*

How is the packaging?

It's a nice & sturdy hard plastic case. It's comes in a pretty metallic red color that would make a perfect gift for the holidays. It has a reflective surface that screams Christmas! ...but you can, of course, buy and use it anytime of the year ☺

Update :: Cover Girl Outlast® Stay Fabulous™ 3-in-1 Foundation

You might remember about a week ago, I wrote a review for the Cover Girl Outlast® Stay Fabulous™ 3-in-1 Foundation (you can read that HERE). In it, I stated that, at the time I tested the foundation, it stayed intact on my skin for about 6 hours before it started breaking up with my natural oils.  I also said that the weather hadn't been particularly hot or humid and I would updated you on the foundation's staying power once I got the opportunity to do so. I finally got to test the Cover Girl Outlast® Stay Fabulous™ 3-in-1 Foundation in extreme hot weather when we went to visit our families out in Palm Springs this past weekend.

That Friday, my boyfriend & I decided we should have a date night. But before that, I had gone to get a much needed hair-cute (yes, you read that right). This gave me the opportunity to check the weather before I started. It was nasty - hot, humid, yucky. If you have ever been to Palm Springs in the summertime, you understand. Well, that (weirdly enough) got me really excited! This was the perfect situation to be in to test out the foundation. So, I did...

Before I begin sharing with you the experiment, let me tell you how I wore the foundation because I don't want to mislead you. I wore it the way I would normally wear it. This means, I did apply a face primer and set the foundation with powder afterwards. I have already tested the product on its own in cooler conditions and it lasted about 6 hours or so on my oily skin without primer and/or powder setting. This tells me the foundation does work in that type of weather with my type of skin. But, I wanted to test the foundation in hot weather with my normal routine to see if it would still perform as well and how long it would last on my skin looking good. Wanna find out what happened? Just keep reading...

Right after application

What is BeautyCon?

Hi everyone! ☺

As you might have noticed, I was gone for quite a few days from my blog. If you 'follow' me on Twitter or 'like' me on Facebook, you know I was back in our hometown spending some time with family. The family-spending time was great, but the weather was just plain nasty *boo hoo* I love my dear Palm Springs so much, but the summer weather is so darn hot! You can cook an egg on the sidewalk. Seriously. But I'll post about that later on & share with you some really cute pictures of our mini summer adventure. For now, let's move onto what this post is really about: BeautyCon Los Angeles 2013.

What is BeautyCon?

BeautyCon is the yearly conference that brings together some of the most influential beauty & fashion online gurus. You get to see the internet come to life for a whole day! It happens in 3 major cities - London, Tokyo & Los Angeles. This event is organized by the BFVA.

What is the BFVA?

The BFVA is the Beauty + Fashion Vloggers Alliance. This is the first organization that brings together beauty & fashion YouTubers, bloggers, Instagramers, Tumblrers, Tweethearts, and Pinners together. The BFVA empowers their members to explore new opportunities, supplies them with resources, provides them with industry connections, and supports them as positive influential voices in online media.

What is BeautyCon Los Angeles all about?

While you are at BeautyCon, you get to talk & share with other beauty & fashion lovers, connect with amazing brands, and pick your favorite gurus brains. Also, there are Q&A presentations where you get to hear your favorite industry professionals about how they have improved their brand. You also get to learn new beauty & fashion tricks, hang out, shop, and meet new people who love this as much as you do!

Why am I posting all this BeautyCon stuff?

This is the very first time I will be attending BeautyCon & I would love to meet you! ♥

When & where is BeautyCon 2013 Los Angeles?

BeautyCon 2013 Los Angeles is on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Siren Studios in Hollywood. It starts at 10 am and goes on until 9 pm. The address to Siren Studios is 6063 West Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood CA 90028.

How do I get in to meet my favorite online gurus?

In order to attend, you must register. Capacity is limited, so do it as soon as possible! You can register HERE. For more information about this event, check out the BeautyCon website.

I really do hope I am able to meet you guys. This is very exciting for me. As more details are available, I'll make sure to display them on my Twitter and/or Facebook.

As always, thank you guys for taking the time to read my blog. Much love & light to you all!

Review :: LORAC PRO Palette

As you guys very well know, I am not one to run to my closest Sephora (or Ulta or drugstore) to buy a product as soon as it comes out. I am more of a let's-wait-for-the-dust-to-settle kind of girl. It's not that I am not curious about whatever everyone else is talking about. It's just that if I see a beauty guru using or adding the product to their favorites after a while, it has more value and credit to me than just telling people "go buy it because it's new." This is pretty much what happened when I found out about the LORAC PRO Palette: I heard/saw reviews, I stayed away, I saw/heard some more reviews, I got curious, I checked it out at Sephora, I stayed away again, I went to PHAMExpo, I gave in & bought it, I tried it on, and I L♥VE IT!

Lorac claims, "Go PRO with the LORAC PRO Palette! Created by celebrity makeup artist Carol Shaw, this PRO artistry palette is packed with 8 Shimmer and 8 Matte Eye Shadows in all the shades you need to create the hottest looks straight from the Red Carpet. LORAC’S velvety-smooth shadows are infused with soothing botanicals and are ultra-pigmented to perform wet or dry so you can shade, shadow, line and define your eyes, just like a PRO. PRO Palette Contains 16 Eye Shadows and a Mini Behind The Scenes Eye Primer for stay-true color that lasts, a PRO must-have!"

Will they live up to their claims? Let's take a look...☺
Price point?
This palette is $42; however, according to the LORAC website, this palette is a $110 value. That would mean, each eyeshadow is worth about $6.88 but they are selling them for $2.63 each as part of this kit. Not a bad price per eyeshadow, considering most high-end single eyeshadows are about $10+ and drugstore single eyeshadows are anywhere between $2-9.
I also think the price is fair as a palette in comparison with others (like Urban Decay's Naked, Naked2, or Smoked Palettes) that are $50 & come with 12 eyeshadows. The LORAC PRO comes with 16 eyeshadows.

Where can you find it?
You can find it at LORAC's website, Sephora, and Ulta (and their respective websites, of course).

How's the packaging?
The packaging is made of thick cardboard that is simple yet chic with a black cover that feels almost leathery. It's comfortable to hold because it's very thin in width & depth. Also, it's very convenient to travel with as it does not require much space in a makeup bag.
